Enter Natalya Blackmoor. She was born in Idris, as many Shadowhunters are. Her childhood was split between her family's estate in Alicante and the Institute in Minsk, capital city of Belarus, of which her mother was the head. When she was thirteen, her parents decided traveling to the other Institutes would be a great way for her training to progress.
Over the years, she moved between the major cities of the world and their Institutes, absorbing knowledge as she went. She never stayed in any one place for more than six months, and every year she made it a point to return to Minsk and see her parents. Upon turning eighteen, she decided to relocate to the New York Institute 'permanently', as in, longer than six months.
As with most Shadowhunters, she is skilled with a variety of weapons and is familiar with a range of martial arts. In combat, she prefers close range tactics and weaponry. She has read extensively on demon lore, and is quite knowledgeable on the subject. She speaks Belarusian, Russian, and English fluently, though the former with a slight accent.
Personality-wise, Talya is a friendly sort, upbeat and enthusiastic. Her tendency to move around constantly has made it difficult for her to develop any strong relationships; she lacks a parabatai. She is curious to the point of ridiculousness, and enjoys learning new things. She has a strong streak of stubbornness, making changing her mind very difficult. She takes great pride in being a Shadowhunter.
When it comes to Downworlders, her opinion varies from that of other Nephilim. She lacks the holier-than-thou attitude, and is merely curious, though this curiosity is tempered by a slight fear; she has never actually met a Downworlder, after all.
